Thank You Shelor Motor Mile!

Floyd County High School's Automotive Technology department has some new equipment thanks to the Shelor Motor Mile in Christiansburg.
Shelor gave the school Matco tools and equipment that added up to more than $3,500, as part of Shelor's "Growing the Future" program.
The donations include:
  • Tension gauge
  • Coolant/combustion gas detector
  • Electric heat gun
  • Jumper cables
  • Remote starter switch
  • Wheel chucks
  • Cylinder power balance tester
  • Tool cart
"The tools donated by Shelor Motor Mile will be used to continue our Automotive Technology Program," said Jessica Cromer, Career and Technical Education Director/Assistant Principal of Floyd County High School, in a news release.  "New state requirements dictate that our shop become NATEF/ASE Accredited and one of those accreditation requirements is to possess a minimum tool inventory.  We did not have the funds to purchase everything that was needed and simply would not have been able to continue our Automotive Program without these donations."
"It is always a pleasure to partner with local area schools" said Regina Edwards, Parts Manager at Shelor Motor Mile, in the release.  "By providing Automotive Service students with the proper tools and equipment, many opportunities and learning experiences become available."
The Floyd County program trains students to repair and troubleshoot problems on cars.  Repair lessons focus on car engines, suspensions, exhaust system, transmission system, and electrical system.
